Civilized life has altogether grown too tame, and, if it is to be stable, it must provide a harmless outlets for the impulses which our remote ancestors satisfied in hunting.-Bertrand Russell
An Introduction to Wingshooting
by Mark Lansdell
We South Africans are blessed with a wide variety of bird species that offer exceptional wingshooting opportunities. KZN Hunters have a number of existing wingshooters amongst their members but would like to encourage more members to partake in this wonderful pastime. While some species such as pigeon, waterfowl and guinea fowl are shot by large groups of wingshooters, others such as partridge and francolin are shot over pointers and retrievers.
For those members who would like to pursue this fine sport we recommend that they first become proficient with the shotguns of their choice. To assist our members we regularly hold Shotgun Clinics at the Durban Gun Club ranges, Eston, KZN. Any interested parties should contact Mark Lansdell on 083 225 0642.
