Dennis Pickard has been involved in taxidermy since 1985 and joined the Taxidermy Association of Southern Africa (TASA) in 1987. He is a Mechanical Engineer by trade and started doing taxidermy as a hobby that has grown into a thriving business.
He has been elected chairman of TASA on and off over a number of years since 1996. He obtained full competency via the competency program of TASA on shoulder mounts in 1996 and numerous first, second and third places during annual competitions over the years.

Dennis started judging as an observer and went through the required training period before been assessed by a panel of senior judges and declared competent to serve as a senior judge. During the last few competitions Dennis was elected as competition chairman in charge of judges at annual competitions.
He is a professional hunter and outfitter and has also collected excellent reference material over the years and is confident in judging.

In 2007 Dennis obtained the highest score of all shoulder mounts entered in the competition as well as the People’s choice and the Game & Hunt floating trophy for a Cape Buffalo shoulder mount

In 2008 he obtained the highest score of all trophies entered in the competition and was awarded “Best of Show” for a full life size mount Oribi. He also obtained the highest score for a Lechwe pedestal mount and second place for a Water Buffalo shoulder mount during this competition. He was again awarded the Wild & Hunt floating trophy for the pedestal Lechwe,

Dennis judges all categories but specializes in antelope shoulder, pedestal and full mounts as well as skull mounts.
