- Should you wish to purchase an eviscerated carcass (skinned, gutted, head and feet removed) the following prices apply:
- Warthog R45.00 per kg
- Other Venison R50.00 per kg
- Should you want only the trophy you will be charged the price for that specific eviscerated carcass.
- Please note that Zebra are excluded from point 2 as they are required for scavenger projects. However, should the hunter wish to take the skin of the Zebra he/she will personally need to skin the animal. The fee for the Zebra skin will be confirmed by Reserve management on application.
- Wounded and unrecovered animals will be charged for at the Ezemvelo base price for the specific species, for example: should you wound a juvenal animal of any species you will be charged the applicable rate for an adult animal for that species. This is due to Ezemvelo having one price per species/sex irrespective of its age.
- The staff that will be working in the skinning/ cold room area are not qualified to undertake the caping of animals.
- The carcasses will be inspected and graded by a representative before they leave the Reserve. Hunters will also be issued with an invoice for the carcasses/ trophies that they have purchased. This document will be their proof of “Permission to Hunt and Transport Game Carcasses”.

HUNTING CONDITIONS
All Bow Hunters need to be paid up members in good standing of the KZN Hunting Shooting & Conservation Association and need to be in possession of a 2025 Bow Hunting Proficiency Certificate issued by the Association. Experienced Bow Hunters will be assessed on the last 3 years of activity with relevant experience, which means it might not be necessary for them to attend a Bow Hunting course. Members who do not have the necessary Bow Hunting experience, or wish to become involved in Bow Hunting, can apply to attend the KZN HSCA Bow Hunting Proficiency course in order to qualify to apply for this hunting opportunity. Attached you will find the Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife annual bow hunting return which you may use to consolidate your hunting experience for the past 3 years.
All Bow Hunters need to be in possession of a valid Bow Hunting Permit issued by Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife.
- All Bow Hunters need to be in possession of the applicable licences/ permits for the animals they intend to hunt. These are available from the Association’s office.
- Harvested animals need to be recovered by the Bow Hunter. However, assistance with the recovery of large animals such as Kudu and Zebra may be requested from Reserve Management.
- It is anticipated that there could be a maximum of 4 separate hunting methods offered: 2 static blinds at waterholes and 2 walk and stalk hunters in separate areas. The “walk & stalk” hunters will be permitted to construct non-evasive blinds using natural materials. Each of the 4 hunting methods will have a field guide to oversee the hunting operation. This representative will also ensure that hunters do not cross boundaries or get lost. Hunters will need to decide amongst themselves whether they prefer to hunt on their own or are prepared to hunt with a fellow hunter.
- All visitors to Weenen Nature Reserve are advised that the following animals are present on the reserve: Black Rhino, White Rhino and Leopard.
